Ewen Glass

That time we hit something

in our car,
the ominous bit at the start
of a horror film,
but when we got out
we found no fox, no badger;
I hoped it was okay,
grazed but mobile.
As we drove on,
I imagined finding it,
maybe holding it.
It looked at me
like my Dad did that one time
I tried to hold him
accountable.
