Abigail Williamson

X

X sits on her bed cross-legged

X leans over on her knees

X reads the allegory of the cave as she absentmindedly drinks 2% milk

X gets to the part where the prisoners see the shadows on the cave wall and believe them to be real and not byproducts of fire

X feels the light-bulb above her head turn on

X understands how the prisoners feel

X knows what it's like to see only the shadows cast by others and believe them to be truth

X knows people who want you to believe they're something they're not

X is "friends" with some of those puppeteers who marionette their lives

X begins to feel like a prisoner no more.
